(PRLEAK) October 13, 2009 – 21st Century Formulations, the developers of Skin MD Natural, a shielding lotion recommended by thousands of doctors, is upbeat of the latest Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA). The act aims at preventing the extensive use of toxic chemicals in products. However, the company requests consumers to be wary of exposure to toxic chemicals until the new legislation comes into force.

The objective behind the development of Skin MD Natural was to treat dry skin, and prevent eczema, contact dermatitis, and other skin conditions, in cases of undue exposure to chemicals. Over 7 million are affected by contact dermatitis and eczema according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). According to Steve Christensen, president of 21st Century Formulations, the amount of toxic chemicals has increased rapidly over the decade, which puts everyone at risk. The company focuses on preventing further damage to the skin through toxic chemicals. However, they feel that the health issues are more than just that. Hopefully, the new TSCA will help prevent the use of toxic chemicals.

Lisa Jackson, administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), announced the changes to be brought about by the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) at a recent speech at the Commonwealth Club in San Francisco. Ms. Jackson reiterated the fact that the public is confused and understandably perturbed by the number of chemicals found in the environment and in our bodies. The public turns to the government to find solutions to the problem and want them to guarantee that the constituents in products have been assessed for chemicals and that health risks have not been ignored. The TCSA has so far not been able to live up to its purpose and hasn't had much of an effect on the industry it is supposed to regulate, leaving much to be desired.

The Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) would probably take a while to become legislation. However, considerable efforts have been made by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), to exercise their powers under the current Act. Meanwhile, 21st Century Formulations recommends that those who suffer from dry skin and eczema continue to use products like Skin MD Natural shielding lotion for continued protection.
