Kansas City, KS (PRLEAK) October 8, 2009 – Spurred by the global meltdown, executive compensation packages have been under question over the past year. While cost cutting has been a norm all across the board with most companies, some have taken the step to offer perquisites in order to maintain employee satisfaction. The Executive Compensation 2009/2010 survey indicates that 32.7 percent of Chief Executive Officers were offered supplemental medical coverage as against 23.5 percent for Chief Financial Officers, and 20.6 percent for Chief Operating Officers.

Supplemental medical coverage is an indicator that companies all across the country are concerned about maintaining the health of their top executives. Amy Kaminski, manager of marketing programs for Compdata Surveys, also supports this theory. Executives put in a lot of hard work which increases their stress levels, which could prove costly in terms of health, and their productivity.

The traditional method of offering perquisites is still supported by many companies, despite the fact that perquisites of a practical nature are a popular trend today. The survey indicates that 50.7 percent of Chief Executive Officers from the utilities industry are entitled to a company car. This is followed by CEOs from the banking and finance sector at 47.7 percent, while 32.2 percent of CEOs from the manufacturing sector also receive the benefits of a company car. Not-for-profits were behind at 27 percent while 5 percent of CEOs from the hospitality sector received the same benefit.

The survey also indicates that regional factors also influenced the perquisites given to top executives. In the Midwest, 11.4 percent of the top human resource executives receive club memberships, while the 8.6 percent receive the same perquisites in the South Central region. 3.2 percent of HR executives received club memberships in the Southeast.

Housing allowances, spouse travel allowances, and supplemental life insurance were also included in the Executive Compensation 2009/2010 survey. Some of the other main highlights included an impressive 17.4 of CFOs being provided with supplemental disability programs, while 9.7 percent of Vice Presidents were provided with supplemental executive retirement plans.
