Roseville, MN (PRLEAK) October 29, 2009 – Sales of sunscreen lotions have increased tremendously over the past few years, which is a clear indicator that people has realized the importance of protecting themselves from undue exposure to heat from the sun. Pet owners also need to be aware of the fact that pets are as vulnerable as humans are, as far as exposure to the sun is concerned. Animals with thick fur coats have a lesser efficient biological cooling system which leads to heat stroke, discomfort, and even death in certain cases, under direct exposure to sunlight.

The new video released by the Professional Awning Manufacturers Association (PAMA) can be viewed at http://www.awningstoday.com/awnings_and_pets.htm and on YouTube at www.youtube.com/user/awningstoday. The video contains a number of tips to help pet owners keep their pets healthy and comfortable when exposed to the sun. Michelle Sahlin, Managing Director of PAMA, reiterates the fact that awnings are useful to homeowners since they block harmful UV rays and keep the interiors cool as well.

Ms. Sahlin stresses the fact that apart from awnings there are a number of ways to protect pets, which is well demonstrated in the video. The video contains a range of ideas for pet owners, with a major contribution to the video coming from pet owners themselves. PAMA appeals to pet owners to view the video titled ‘Tips to Protect Your Pet from Sun & Heat', for some great ideas and information on protecting pets.
